#October #MovieReview – Definitely ‘Alag’ and beautiful!
Some love stories are unique. You never say those 3 magical words to each; infact you never get a chance to say so.

October is surely ‘hatke’ and far cry from any other contemporary stories you would have seen. It will have such compelling effect on you that you will remain silent for half hour post the movie. October will not allow you to shrug it off you.

The movie expects the audience to gather clues and messages to understand the following, which are NOT explicitly told –
– Why name of the movie
– Why the flowers
– What happens to you when the last words from a person who meets with a serious accident …was YOUR NAME
– Is this also a definition of love
(Happy to discuss it through personal message, as can’t reveal spoilers here)

There are just 2 heros in the movie – The director Shoojit Sircar followed by Varun Dhawan.
If I had to pick the top 3 best directors of this decade 2010-2019, Shoojit would be one of them, along with Neeraj Pandey and Imtiaz Ali
Shoojit has kept the movie very real. At an emotional scene, you would expect a slow motion with an emotional background score to happen but doesn’t. You would expect another overrated depression filled Arjit Singh to come but doesn’t. Yes, no songs in the movie.

The character of Varun is one of the most crisply defined and enacted ones that you will see, who is – innocent, dumb and casual.
This is his best performance along with Badlapur. Apparently he is one of the rare stars who never had a commercial flop in his career

Unfortunately October will end his streak, as October is going to receive lot of love from critics but lot of empty seats in the theater, as it is clearly not for the masses.
The biggest culprit of October is its slow pace and demands lot of patience from the audience.

All in all, watch October only if you are seeking something beautiful and NOT entertainment.
Watch this movie before its moves out of the theaters within 2-3 weeks.

Movie Review – Padmavat

#Padmavat – One Time Watch. That’s it!

It is not beyond excellent as quoted by many. Read below for WHY

The movie seemed disconnected at various points maybe due to the hundred of cuts within the movie.
This movie seems to have been made ONLY to win awards – Best Costume, Best Art Direction, Best Make-up, Best Actor/ Actress…but surely not audience choice best movie award.
The movie drags and moves in the same pace throughout expect the climax. It gets really boring at certain parts. The critics are going to drool over Padmavat, like other SLB movies.

Now why Padmavat deserves surely a watch –
– SLB made sure Deepika won all awards in Gol..RamLeela, Ranveer won all awards in Bajirao ..and here I see both winning all awards. All characters have done a great job in this movie.
– The MOVIE BELONGS TO RANVEER SINGH. Probably his finest performance till date. He overshadows everybody including the movie. Surprisingly he has been given more screen time than Deepika and Shahid, wondering if the movie should be have been named Khilji..he is so awesome!
He is menacing, cruel and eccentric.
His obsession and frustration to acquire the queen is displayed far too perfectly

Best Scene (without the spoiler ) – The climax scene. It has been shot perfectly with the right background score.

Maybe the movie without the cuts may have been much better, but this one isn’t very bad either. One would end going out of the theaters with lot of respect for the Rajput community. They have been rightly glorified.

Go for this movie only if you want to watch some impeccable acting!

Movie Review – Coco

Coco (Animated English movie) – My Best movie of 2017!

The movie is in its 2nd week and was released with less publicity but I believe word of mouth publicity will give the movie its due.

Why is Coco the best movie?
1. There was no ‘Dangal of 2017’ to give every movie serious competition. The few good movies of 2017 were 2 movies of Rajkumar Rao, 2 movies of Akshay Kumar, 1 of Aamir Khan and 1 of Irfan Khan. Needless to mention the movie of Prabhas.
In Hollywood too, few excelled…But FOR ME somehow this movie edges over every movie of this year
2. Coco has every possible right ingredient in it :
– brilliant concept
– required amount of comedy
– no single dull moment
– light hearted and easy on the audience
– a country nicely captured with every small nuances

What to expect in Coco?
1. Don’t want to reveal any spoiler, but expect a complete rollercoaster of emotion – right from laughs to thrills to amazement to happy tears
2. You won’t leave the theatre empty handed. The movie shall remain with you

What do to now?
1. Book your tickets ASAP, before it vanishes from the theatre (Before ‘Alive Tiger’ takes away all screens)
2. Go with your entire family. It is one of the best family movies ever

I haven’t revealed anything about the story of the movie and there is no need to even watch its trailer.
Coco is highly recommended and you can thank me later for recommending this highly unknown movie

2 WORD REVIEW – Above Average

Firstly grand salute to Akshay Kumar. He is only complete actor in Bollywood who has done comedy, family, action , romantic, masala, patriotic, thriller and everything possible!
Rustom is just another feather to his versatile cap. The movie completely belongs to Akshay Kumar.

Rustom is a fast paced thriller which doesn’t allow the user to get bored. Surprisingly it has decent amount of comedy as well to lighten up the mood.
BUT there was huge scope of making the movie much better. So it is definitely not superb.

All in all, go for this movie as it is not brilliant but eventually paisa vasool.

2 Word Review – Below Average

Firstly the trailer of Mohenjo daro was a big disaster and it didn’t evoke any interest at all. Still many like me would have gone for the movie, keeping the faith on Hritik and Ashutosh Gowarikar.

Lets quickly look at the poor aspects of the movie –
1. Poor special effects/ CGI/ VFX and poorer art direction – With such a magnum opus, one would expect visual treat as there was beautiful scope for showing the ancient city. But special effects and sets were very poor and seemed to be made on minuscule budget.

2. Poor script – It has the same old story and absolutely nothing new to offer. Almost unbelievable to realize that it is the same Director who gave us the flawless Lagaan and Swades.

3. Music – In spite of A R Rehman doing a good job, somehow it wasn’t good as compared to Lagaan, Swades or Jodha Akbar

Now at the good aspects of the movie –
1. Nothing as such – Hritik does a decent job and so do the other actors.
It does give a peek into the interesting civilization, which otherwise we would have never got to visualize.

All in all, in spite of all odds Mohenjo daro  keeps you somehow hooked and does not kill you. One can easily miss this attempt by Hritik and Ashutosh Gowarikar.

Movie name – #‎Kabaali‬ (hindi one not tamil)

One line review – Very Boring

Me being a masala movie lover/ set max South Indian dubbed movies lover/ Rajni Fan/ Shivaji-the boss and Robot movie lover…simply got horribly bored watching the Hindi Kabaali
(Maybe tamil one with the original flavor would be better)
I almost felt cheated going with such high expectations.

The director has very immaturely directed the movie. He is the main culprit here.
– No proper flow between the scenes
– No trademark Rajni scenes which give goosebumps and whistles
– No comedy scenes which is the strength of many South Indian movies
– No exciting action sequences as well
He tried to end the movie like some cult movies end, but that was simply poor and senseless. You would be like WTF!

Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’ has some serious competition here.

The one good thing about the movie is that the plight and story of Indians in Malaysia is shown nicely

Rajnikant will surely bounce back next year with Robot-2 which is going to create history, as even great stars can make bad movies.
e.g. – SRK did Dilwale, Aamir khan did Dhoom 3 , Salman Khan ..well..never mind!

All in all, save your money and DON’T watch the Hindi Kabaali.
Maybe try going for the Tamil one to witness the fanfare of the biggest superstar of this country.

Movie name – The Jungle Book

As a movie buff and movie reviewer, I have never ever seen such amazing visuals in my life.
This movie took me to a totally different world and left me madly mesmerized. After years, I would like to a movie watch one more time!!

This movie is definitely one of the top 3 movies of 2016.
One has missed on the best things in life, they haven’t watched this movie in theater yet. The story is gripping, covers all emotions and shows the true love between ‘living beings’. The child actor playing Mowgli is A-class and has a very bright future.

BTW watch the movie in Hindi. It is actually much better.

All in all, this is one those rare movies, where the entire family can watch together..and keep watching it again and again..
